The top five producers of rigid plastics packaging in Europe share a slice of the market worth more than €4bn, according to a new report published this month by European Plastics News.
Alpla Werke of Austria takes the top place in the European Plastics News ranking of 30 Top Producers of Rigid Plastics Packaging in Europe. Second place goes to RPC of the UK, followed by UK-headquartered Rexam, Spain’s Artenius PET Packaging Europe and Greiner Packaging of Austria.
The top three companies dominate the ranking, with a combined European rigid packaging sales volume of €3.2bn, close to 40% of the total for the 30 listed companies.
Ranking leader Alpla is one of three companies in the report – along with Logoplaste of Portugal and Serioplast of Italy - to provide both rigid packaging manufacturing and packaging logistics.
Only five of the 30 leading rigid packaging producers are headquartered outside of Europe – Amcor (which is back in the European rigid packaging business though its recent acquisition of Alcan Packaging), Chesapeake, Graham Packaging, Nampak and Plastipak.
The European Plastics News Rigid Plastics Packaging Producers Data Report contains global sales and European rigid plastics packaging sales data covering 30 top manufacturing companies representing a combined rigid packaging sales value of more than 8.3bn. Each ranked company entry is supported with key contact information and a short profile and summary of business activities.
The eight-page study, which has been researched and compiled by European Plastics News in association with Townsend Solutions, is published in the March edition and is available free to all subscribers to the magazine.
The report is the first of a series of four European Plastics News Data Reports that will be published during this year: Europe’s Top Plastics Film Producers will be published in April, Europe’s Top Pipe and Profile Producers will be published in June, and the Europe’s Top Injection Moulders will be published in October.
